A Pocket Guide to Asset Finance is a new leaflet launched and distributed at the Party Conferences in September 2008.  The aim of this guide is to give a good understanding of asset finance and the business and services of FLA’s asset finance members. This leaflet has been produced by the FLA in collaboration with the National Federation of Enterprise Agencies (NFEA).

Met Police and Companies House working with FLA have launched a business fraud prevention initiative.  UK companies identities have been hijacked by organised criminal networks by making fraudulent entries on their registration at Companies House and then using their credit rating to obtain high value goods and services. The loss to industry through this type of fraud is estimated to be in excess of £50 Million pounds per year.

These leaflets give some guidance to prevent your company being a target.

Guidance for financing grey imports

There are two main categories of imported cars: ‘parallel’ imports, which are generally vehicles originally built, although not necessarily imported from within the EU, and ‘grey’ imports, which were manufactured for a non-EU market – usually Japan – and then imported for sale in the UK. This guidance covers only the latter, grey imports.

This comprehensive booklet offers advice to financiers of vehicles about what their responsibilities and liabilities are for vehicles that they own, even if they are leased or contracted out to another party.

The booklet includes sections on: licences; HMRC and its powers; DVLA and its powers; the London congestion charging zone and transportation of illegal immigrants.
