Recent Media Coverage

The FLA published year-end statistics for the motor finance market in February, which have been covered in national, regional and trade press media, including The Sun, Motor Finance, AM, Car Dealer, Fuelcards, contracthireandleasing.com, Motor Trader and Wheels within Wales.

We also had good coverage of our commentary on the motor finance market in an article in early February in the Daily Mirror, where the FLA promoted the use of dealer finance for new and used car purchases.

The FLA has gained coverage for motor dealers who have achieved the SAF Approved status across their dealership network. So far, we have sent out press releases on six dealer groups who have attained the status. Good regional coverage has included the Manchester Evening News, Newcastle Evening Chronicle, Newcastle Journal, Exeter Times and the Teeside Evening Gazette.   

Recent comments made by the FLA on car fraud have been covered in Which? MSN UK, Southern Daily Echo, East Anglian Daily Times, Cambridge Evening News, Aberdeen Press & Journal, Belfast Newsletter, Lincolnshire Echo, Oxford Mail, Shropshire Star and Motor Finance.

The FLA’s repossession figures for 2009, published to coincide with Ministry of Justice and Council of Mortgage Lenders figures, were covered by the Daily Mail and the Independent, as well as Credit Today and Mortgage Strategy.

We have continued with our programme to publish monthly consumer statistics. Our December statistics, published at the end of February, were trailed in the Sunday Express, before receiving wider coverage from The Independent, PA, The Retail Bulletin, Keighley News, Yorkshire Post, Belfast Telegraph and the Shropshire Star as well as many other regional and online sources.

In response to stories claiming credit card interest rates were at their highest for six years, the FLA published a response which was included in the BBC News website story on the issue.

In the asset finance division, we have had continued good coverage of our statistics and lobbying message in the trade press, Leasing Life, Leasing World, Motor Finance and Fleet News.
