Recent Media Coverage
Asset
In the last month, we have made several important points to various media outlets. We placed our Q2 asset finance statistics with the Financial Times, showing that leasing was growing as a source of credit for UK companies.
A week later, our statistics were used in a story calling for asset finance to be included in Quantitative Easing programmes in both the Financial Times and the Daily Mail.
Our monthly asset finance statistics backed up a story about vendor finance in The Independent.
And following our successful party conference event on getting finance to SMEs in the city, the Birmingham Post published a supplement on asset finance, which we had worked closely with them on, and which featured an article from the Director General, as well as those from several FLA members.
We have also worked with Mediaplanet on an asset and asset-backed finance supplement which was distributed with City AM.
Motor
The FLA’s statistics on the motor finance market were reported in national, regional and trade press, including The Sun, MSN UK, Wiltshire Times, Wheels within Wales, Motor Finance, Dealer Update, AM, Motor Trader, Glass Guide, RAC.com, as well as other regional, trade and online sources.
We also contributed to an online consumer query on guardian.co.uk about whether leasing was a good deal for this particular customer.
And our renewed commitment to funding the Vehicle Fraud Unit of the Police's Vehicle Crime Intelligence Unit was carried in motor and police journals.
Consumer
The FLA’s statistics on the consumer finance market were reported in national, regional, online and trade press media, including The Telegraph and the Daily Mail.
The FLA also took part in interviews with Dr Stella Creasy MP and Citizens Advice, debating the high-cost credit market, and what impact cost of credit caps would have on that market. FLA interviews were recorded with BBC News and Radio Five Live, and comments were carried on other BBC outlets, as well as on the BBC News website. We also recorded a follow-up interview with Radio 4’s You and Yours programme.
