George Tonks

George is a partner in the specialist leasing and asset finance consultancy business Invigors, where he has specific responsibility for technical leasing issues. He is a chartered accountant with particular expertise in lease accounting, taxation and evaluation, together with banking capital adequacy. George has over 30 years experience in the asset finance industry, covering a full range of transactions. He is an active member of the FLA’s technical committees on direct taxation, VAT, accounting and capital adequacy (Basel II).

Previously George was Head of Taxation and Technical Support for HSBC’s UK Commercial and Corporate Banking Divisions. In that capacity, he has gained significant experience of lease accounting and taxation, including structuring (and restructuring) leases, lease evaluation and pricing, banking capital requirements and corporate transactions involving lessors and portfolios.
