Malcolm Rogers
Malcolm has worked in the finance industry for 30 years and has held a number of senior credit positions in the UK leasing industry, including with Lloyds, Halifax and Alliance & Leicester. He now has a portfolio career, which includes running the Charity Bank's operations in Yorkshire & Humber and working as a business mentor to charities. Malcolm has been a lecturer on risk management topics on FLA courses for more than 20 years.
Iain Sheppard
Iain has worked in leasing since 1993. He started with Royal Bank Leasing (the big ticket leasing company for Royal Bank of Scotland) in lease administration before moving onto lease evaluation. In 1998 he joined KPMG's lease Evaluation and Accounting Team where he worked on a wide variety of leasing and structured finance projects. After five years, Iain joined Capstar Partners Limited, a lease arranger, where he was involved in product development, closing transactions and transaction management. He now works, once again, for Royal Bank of Scotland's leasing business restructuring their big ticket leases. He has presented the lease pricing talk on the FLA Intermediate leasing course since 1999.
John Williamson
John is a director within PWC’s Banking & Capital Markets Division with over 26 years experience of providing audit and advisory services to the leasing industry, including due diligence, lease structuring, litigation support and lease evaluation.
Widely regarded as the firm’s expert on lease accounting, John chairs the firm’s global Leasing Technical Committee on IFRS, is the principal author of the publication “Leasing in the UK” and acts on the technical accounting committees of both the UK Finance & Leasing Association and the British Vehicle Rentals and Leasing Association. He has also acted on the ICAEW’s and CCAB’s sub-committees on lease accounting and on the working party that introduced the UK Statement of Recommended Practice (“SORP”) on lease accounting.
John joined the predecessor firm of Deloitte Haskins & Sells in 1971 after obtaining a degree in economics from Hull University and is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
Tim Moon
Tim is a Director for the International Corporate Tax/Financial Services Sector at KPMG and has over twenty years’ experience in corporate tax. Before joining KPMG Tim was a senior Inspector of Taxes within HMRC dealing with some of the UK’s largest financial institutions. Since joining KPMG Tim has specialised in tax for the financial sector with a particular focus on the leasing industry both from a lessor and lessee perspective.
Recent projects include both domestic and cross border leasing transactions across a wide range of industry sectors including utilities and transport and the securitisation of a substantial credit card portfolio for a US financial institution.
David Malempre
David’s initial legal career was with Vizards Tweedie, solicitors, where he worked principally in litigation. In 1980, he was recruited as Legal Manager of Robert Benson Lonsdale & Co. Limited, the principal leasing subsidiary of Kleinwort Benson Limited, the merchant bank (now Dresdner Kleinwort) and was subsequently appointed as Group Legal Adviser. Thereafter, he was an associate with Beaumont and Son, the aviation solicitors in London.
After a short spell in commerce as Legal Director of the All Leisure Travel Holdings Plc group of companies, he became an independent legal consultant and spends his time advising financial institutions and is particularly active within the aviation industry.
David is a non-executive director to a number of companies and was a member of the FLA’s legal sub-committee for many years and he has lectured on each FLA Intermediate Course since 1987 and on each FLA Foundation Course since 1999.
John Bennett
John is currently Managing Director of Banc of America Leasing Global Vendor Finance, based in London, and operating in 15 countries in Western Europe. He has previously held CEO and director positions with UK leasing subsidiaries of Royal Bank of Scotland, Chase Manhattan, and Sanwa Bank (Japan).
John Bennett has over 30 years experience in key sectors of the leasing market – big ticket, vendor, middle-market and operating leasing.
Born in Edinburgh, Scotland and educated at Manchester Polytechnic and Manchester Business School and holds a BA in Business Studies and a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration.
John is a Board member of the UK Finance and Leasing Association and a Board member of Leaseurope, since 2005 and was Chairman of Leaseurope 2007-2008.
