Supporting the broker channel

Simon Goldie, Director of Advocacy

The FLA Annual Dinner saw the launch of our Broker Accreditation Service (Asset Finance). Since then, we have been talking a lot about how the service will work and why we set it up. We’ve talked less about the ‘wrap-around’ services that go with it.

Once a broker firm is accredited (demonstrated that they have complied to FCA rules), they will automatically become a member of a new Broker Working Group. That will help us shape the process as it develops. Having direct feedback from brokers will be critical when we come to refine it or need to add new questions.

The group will receive regularly updates on regulation and hear from FLA Board directors about their view of the market. It will also be an opportunity for us to gain a deeper understanding of the broker community: what are the challenges brokers face, what can we do to help and how can we work with other organisations such as the NACFB to further broker interest.

There may be services required by FLA accredited brokers that we don’t know about. Once we do, we can explore delivery options. We already provide a lot of bespoke training for our members which may well be something that accredited brokers require.

There will also be an opportunity for funders and brokers to discuss industry issues and hear from leading figures in the asset finance sector.
