This introductory course offers delegates a comprehensive grounding in the key elements of consumer credit regulation. The course will give delegates an overview of the dual regulation of the consumer credit market It will firstly explore the legislative framework including the Consumer Credit Act and associated regulations and then cover Financial Conduct Authority’s regulatory framework including an overview of how the FCA regulates firms and the how the handbook rules apply to Consumer Credit firms.
By the end of the course, delegates will:
- Be aware of the regulatory landscape, including how both aspects of dual regulation operate
- Know how enforcement mechanisms operate and the impact of consumer credit regulation on marketing and advertising
- Understand how consumer credit agreements are structured including the classification of agreements, how credit and charges interact and the features of multiple, regulated and exempt agreements
